Avoid the Hidden Pitfalls of Taking out a Debt Consolidation Loan

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

When in debt, one usually turns to debt consolidation loans to get out of debt quickly. Debt consolidation loan is a loan that replaces all the loans you have. So instead of paying your numerous creditors individually, you only have to pay the debt consolidation loan a monthly installment. It is their duty to disperse the money to the other creditors every month.

The most important point that has to be taken into consideration when applying for a debt consolidation loan would be the annual percentage ratio of the loan. It is important that you choose the company offering the lower interest rate. Nowadays, lenders use different time frames to calculate your interest rates. So check out on the interest rate of the loan you apply for and thus find out how much interest you will have to pay. Some lenders lend money at variable interest rates that change through the period of the loan. So check if the loan is being given at a fixed or variable interest rate; a loan that had an interest rate of 4% at the beginning may produce an interest rate of 7% after a few years!

When taking out a debt consolidation loan, do check on the redemption fees of the company. This is because some lenders charge redemption fees of up to two month’s interest if you intend to pay off the loan early. There are even some lenders who say that the interest penalty is the same, no matter if the loan is repaid at the beginning or the ending of the loan term. So this means that if you take a debt consolidation loan for five years, you have to pay the same interest penalty regardless if you pay it within one month of the loan or if it runs the whole period.

5 Major Reasons Why You Should Buy a Home Instead of Rent

Monday, April 19th, 2010

There are times when it is better for a person to rent, but most often home ownership has many more benefits and advantages.

About 10 year ago a had a retired aunt and uncle who rented a condo in Las Vegas. Uncle Jim (not his real name) was a retired minister. Throughout his career he and his wife lived in parsonages, which are homes furnished by the congregation while they ministered there.

He and his wife told me that the biggest mistake they ever made was not to invest in buying a home. In their retirement years, when their other retired friends were living in homes that were almost paid off and had appreciated greatly, Uncle Jim and his wife were using a huge portion of their limited retirment money to make expensive condo rent payments. They strongly cautioned me not to make the same mistake they had.

Recent studies are showing that there are many benefits for both the owners and the community for owning your own home, including increased education for children, lower teen-age pregnancy rate and a higher lifetime annual income for children. Besides these, listed below are some of the primary advantages for owning your own house.

1) More Stable Housing Costs
Rent payments can be unpredictable and typically rise each year, but most mortgage payments remain unchanged for the entire loan period. If the taxes go up, the increase is usually gradual. This stable housing cost especially important in times of inflation, when renters lose money and owners make money.

A Methodical Approach to Best Secured Loans

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

I was always very sure of my analytical and decision making skills, and was sure of my capability to unearth the best secured loans. But the significantly larger number of decisions that one has to make on personal loans had my confidence drooping low. I would have lost any hope of getting a best secured loan had it not been for the independent financial advisors, who advised me on the correct method of proceeding on best secured loan.

The method of proceeding on best secured loan differs from the manner in which secured loans in general are found. Haven’t you experienced a similar situation when a rare commodity has to be searched? The purchaser has to put more efforts. Similarly, special efforts will have to be made by the borrower during the search for best secured loans. A special effort is not synonymous with more efforts. Technology ensures that borrowers have to spend very less time and energy in the processing of loans. Through a special effort is meant the use of technology to lead to the best secured loan.

The technology used in best secured loans is very simple and user friendly. Instead of having borrowers to visit their office, the loan providers have provided maximum information about them and their products on their website. A website thus is the window to the lender for borrowers all over the world. Any borrower who is interested in viewing the lender’s offering has to view its website. Any person who has a personal computer connected to the internet can browse the loan provider’s website and make his application from any place and at any time. This method of online application has been largely helpful for the borrowers.
